A Walk in the Park

Programming, Modelling & Design | Android | 2022

For the purposes of my end-of-year project in my first year at Hanze University, I had to create a serious game that fulfills a design brief with my team.The game should teach children  about the animals in Staatbosbeheer, the Dutch national forests.

This project was one of the first big leaps in my skillset, as I implemented quests of varying complexity into an adorable overworld, along with the appropriate methods to track progress.

Mechanics developed:

  • Dialogue System

  • Inventory System

  • 3rd person movement

  • Quests in which the player helps cute animals

  • Quest update UI popups

Soft skills exercised:

  • Teamwork

  • Teaching programming to teammates

  • Concepting research & Testing

Other technical tasks undertaken:

  • Blender modeling, texturing, rigging and animation

  • Texturing with Photoshop
